Richmond is a vibrant bustling city that features shopping malls and restaurants galore on one side, and serene sea views and bike and hiking trails on the other.
Richmond Centre and Landsdowne Centre are only two of the many malls in Richmond and boast over three hundred shops between them. There are over two hundred restaurants, many of them Chinese, along a three block strip on Alexandra Road, commonly called Food Street. The newly opened Canada Line makes travelling to and from Richmond quick and easy. Canada Line stations stop at the major malls and restaurants, the River Rock Casino Resort and Vancouver International Airport. The Richmond Olympic Oval, built for the 2010 Winter Olympic Games, is a great place to spend hours testing your skating skills or any of a number of other sports. Richmond is famous for its Night Market from May to October every year. A big draw to Richmond is the annual Richmond Maritime Festival held in the charming historic village of Steveston, home to Canada’s largest fleet of fishing boats. Rain or shine, visitors can be seen walking along Steveston’s waterfront boardwalks to enjoy the scenery and to take in a cup of coffee or a delicious meal at many of its fine restaurants.
