Kitsilano, commonly called ‘Kits’, is a vibrant area located on the west side across the Burrard bridge and along the south shore of English Bay.
Detached houses, low-rise apartment buildings, and duplexes ranging in cost depending on location. Kitsilano is home to a mixture of a young and retired crowd, commonly known to be occupied by a largely hippie culture and yoga and outdoor enthusiasts. Kitsilano is a very environmental-friendly and eco-aware area, where most of the residents often walk or bicycle to and from work. Kitsilano is home to a selection of organic markets, multicultural restaurants, and two main streets West Broadway and West 4th avenue, which are always bustling with people. West 4th Avenue is popular for its brand-name shopping, independent boutiques, and home decor shops.
Those fortunate enough to live in this area during the summer months can truly experience all the Kitsilano has to offer. The popular summer hotspot, Kitsilano Beach brings in Vancouver residents and tourists from all over and was named one of the top 10 best city beaches in the world. Kitsilano Beach offers the public use of volleyball courts, basketball courts, tennis courts and an outdoor pool. Tourist attractions in kits include the HR MacMillan Space Centre and Planetarium, Vanier Park, Vancouver Maritime Museum, and the Museum of Vancouver. Kitsilano hosts several events such as Bard on the Beach, an annual outdoor Shakespeare festival, and is known for street parties and arts festivals such as Greek Days Festival and Khatsalano Music and Art Festival.
